Antonio Pierce made waves in the news on Monday when he did not rule out a possibility of making a change at quarterback after the Raiders’ 36-22 loss to the Panthers.
Just a few hours later, a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport indicated that the decision was made by the Raiders to stick with Gardner Minshew for at least another week.
There might not be a quarterback change coming this week, but Pierce’s comments suggest it could happen soon if the Raiders don’t get more production from Minshew. The Raiders’ struggles on offense might not be the fault of Minshew, but to this point in the season the veteran quarterback hasn’t looked particularly comfortable in Luke Getsy’s system.
The Raiders host the Browns in Week 4 and both teams will be trying to avoid falling to 1-3 on the season.
As of now, the Raiders are one-point favorites in the game, and that might be generous considering the performance they gave against the Panthers.
The Browns (1-2) have losses this season to the Cowboys and Giants, with their lone victory an 18-13 win over the Jaguars.
