Jack Jones and Anthony Richardson have company. Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills said Monday he made a “business decision” and opted to tap out, not playing in Cleveland’s Oct. 27 upset win over Baltimore due to his knee injury.

“I mean, I decided myself that, I made a business decision not to play after the Bengals game going into that Ravens game because I was injured,” Wills told reporters after the Browns’ bye week on Monday, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “And then the next week is when I received the news.”

That news shocked him, that Cleveland would be benching him for its next game, a Week 9 loss to the Chargers, in favor of Dawand Jones – who started the Ravens game in his place. Wills said he aggravated a 2023 knee injury on the first play in Cleveland’s Oct. 20 loss to Cincinnati but played through it. The following week, Wills said his knee “wasn’t ready for gametime, so I didn’t end up playing.”

Cabot addressed the awkward issue on Monday’s edition of Orange and Brown Talk.

The Browns’ first-round selection in the 2020 draft, Wills is eligible for unrestricted free agency after this season. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is scheduled to address the media at his regular Wednesday news conference.

Cleveland (2-7) will start Jameis Winston again in New Orleans (3-7) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, FOX). The Saints are fresh off an improbable 20-17 win over Atlanta in the first game for interim head coach Darren Rizzi. Under Stefanski, a two-time Coach of the Year, the Browns are 3-1 in games immediately after bye weeks.
