Using multiple quarterbacks in NFL games isn’t some recent fad. The New Orleans Saints have done it regularly since claiming Taysom Hill on waivers in 2017.
The difference this season is new Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and how he’ll utilize Hill in the 49ers-style offense. Mike Triplett, who covers the Saints for NewOrleans.Football, calls the versatile Hill a “Fantasy Cheat Code.”
When Kubiak returned with the Saints to San Francisco Aug. 18, he utilized Hill in several looks. In fact, Hill scored on a 1-yard carry to cap an impressive 16-play, 95-yard march. The 6-2, 220-pound Hill carried three times on the drive, including an 11-yard burst.
During training camp, ESPN said New Orleans would like to play Hill at five positions: Quarterback, fullback, running back, tight end and wide receiver.
Translation for fantasy owners: Hill is a rare threat to score points as a rusher, passer and receiver.
No doubt, observers and future opponents are looking forward to how much Kubiak and the Saints show their cards with Hill in their season opener Sept. 8 against Carolina.
