Dallas Cowboys: Owner Jerry Jones said following his team’s season-ending loss with regard to the future of HC Mike McCarthy: “I don’t know that I am considering making a change is really what I’m trying to say.” Jones praised McCarthy but remained non-committal with regard to a decision and timeline. McCarthy, meanwhile, left no doubt as to his preference; he wants to return at the reins of the Cowboys.
New York Giants: FOX insider Jordan Schultz reports the team won’t be hurried in making a decision on the futures of GM Joe Schoen and HC Brian Daboll. Schultz says the process could continue past Monday.
Miami Dolphins: Stephen Ross announces that both GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel will return next season.
Indianapolis Colts: Owner Jim Irsay writes an open letter to fans confirming that GM Chris Ballard and HC Shane Steichen will return in 2025.
Detroit Lions: NBC’s Mike Florio reports on Football Night in America that offensive coordinator Ben Johnson isn’t guaranteed to leave the team. Johnson will only leave for a head-coaching situation that includes alignment with the front office.
Minnesota Vikings: Head coach Kevin O’Connell‘s contract will expire following the 2025 season and FOX’s Jay Glazer reports multiple teams are preparing to contact the Vikings with draft-choice compensation offers. O’Connell has massive leverage and will likely be among the league’s highest-paid coaches next season. … Mike Florio (NBC) reports on Football Night in America that a Vikings source told him the team would not trade O’Connell.
New England Patriots: Adam Schefter reports the Patriots have fired first-year head coach and former New England linebacker Jerod Mayo, who finished the season 4-13. The New England opening is the NFL’s fourth head-coach vacancy. … CBS insider Jonathan Jones reports Eliot Wolf, who heads the team’s football operations, is safe. … Following the move, former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski on the FOX halftime show says there’s rumbling that Josh McDaniels could return as offensive coordinator. … Speculation in league circles is the Kraft family made the move with Mayo to pursue former Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Adam Schefter reports on Sunday NFL Countdown that the way Pittsburgh’s season has ended could lead other teams to call the Steelers and inquire whether they would be willing to move on from Mike Tomlin, to stir interest.
University of Texas: Adam Schefter reports on Sunday NFL Countdown that he expects NFL teams to call and inquire about Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Las Vegas Raiders: Adam Schefter reports on Sunday NFL Countdown that he’s “leaning safe” whether Antonio Pierce returns in 2025.
New England Patriots: Adam Schefter reports on Sunday NFL Countdown that over the last 30 days things have changed for head coach Jerod Mayo and Schefter says “leaning out” regarding whether the coach is safe entering the season-finale.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Adam Schefter reports on Sunday NFL Countdown that he expects head coach Doug Pederson to be out but GM Trent Baalke‘s status is uncertain … Jordan Schultz reports there’s a league-wide understanding that the team will move on from both GM Trent Baalke and head coach Doug Pederson following Sunday’s game. Last week, CBS insider Jonathan Jones reported the Jaguars’ HC role would become more attractive with a “proverbial clean slate,” rather than retaining Baalke. … NBC’s Mike Florio reports there’s chatter that Lions OC Ben Johnson wants the Jaguars’ job but also might want his own personnel executive.
Dallas Cowboys: Adam Schefter reports on Sunday NFL Countdown that he’s “leaning to safe” with regard to the status of head coach Mike McCarthy, noting things could change as discussions happen after the season-finale, and McCarthy would draw interest from New Orleans should the Cowboys move on…NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport notes that Mike McCarthy‘s contract officially ends on Jan. 14. Other teams can request permission to speak with McCarthy beginning this Tuesday and until Jan. 14 Dallas can deny those requests, creating an exclusive negotiating window for the Cowboys and McCarthy. The coach is expected to draw interest from the Bears and Jets, among others.
New York Jets: Josina Anderson says the team has internally discussed potential interviews with Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. Both coaches have reached the playoffs with their respective teams.
Cleveland Browns: Shortly after finishing the season at Baltimore, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson, per Tom Pelissero (NFLN). The Browns rank last in the league with 15.2 points per game.
