Six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick is a little tied up these days with media obligations, ironically, in his first season away from coaching in half a century.

But many expect Belichick, 71, to return to the sidelines in 2025. And if the Jaguars’ season continues down its current path, his next stop could be in Jacksonville to replace Doug Pederson.

“I think we’re only a couple weeks away from fans clamoring for Bill Belichick,” said Gus Logue of BigCatCountry.com. “He wouldn’t be a long-term solution, but there may not be a better person to get the most out of Jacksonville’s roster right now. If/when Pederson is replaced, ‘maximizing talent’ will be the biggest box to chick – sorry, check – for the next head coach.”

Jacksonville fell to 0-2 on Sunday, struggling against a wounded Cleveland club. Afterward, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence didn’t exactly mince words.

“Yeah, I mean, we suck right now,” said Lawrence on Sunday. “Pretty shocked. This isn’t … we had a great offseason, great training camp and we’ve got to figure it out.”

Over their last six quarters in losses to Miami and Cleveland, the Jaguars have 16 offensive possessions and just one touchdown. Over that stretch, Jacksonville has seven punts, two field goals, one missed field goal, one costly fumble, one turnover on downs, one game-killing safety and two drives ended by the clock.

After a promising first season under Pederson, freeing them from the Urban Meyer nightmare, Lawrence and the Jaguars have now lost seven of their last eight entering a Week 3 assignment at Buffalo (2-0) on Monday Night Football (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN). Jacksonville’s only win during that stretch was at home against Carolina in Week 17 last season.

Belichick has 333 career wins as an NFL head coach, second all-time behind Hall of Famer Don Shula (347).
