The last of six quarterbacks in the first 12 selections of April’s draft, Bo Nix probably should’ve been the first. Denver’s rookie is now the leader in the clubhouse for Offensive Rookie of the Year. That’s according to 12-year veteran and Super Bowl champion Damien Woody, now an ESPN analyst. Nix, who led the Broncos to a 29-19 win over the Raiders on Sunday, now has 16 touchdown passes, three rushing touchdowns and two interceptions over his last 10 games.

“Bo Nix has been playing lights-out football for the Denver Broncos,” Woody said Monday morning on First Take. “Listen, if we were to redraft right now, Bo Nix might be my No. 1 guy. There are other quarterbacks with a higher ceiling, higher athletic profile than Bo Nix, but the one thing Bo Nix does, he takes care of the football. He’s mobile, he makes quick decisions and when you talk about playing in the National Football League, those are the attributes to me that mean the most if you’re trying to win a championship.”

While Nix finally matched Jayden Daniels in wins on Sunday (both are 7-5), he still ranks second to the Commanders’ quarterback in passer rating (97.6 to 89.9). And Daniels almost led Washington to another miracle victory on Sunday before a third straight loss. Nix now leads all rookies in touchdown passes with 16.

He threw two of them to lead Denver out of a 13-9 halftime hole on Sunday, including a gorgeous 18-yard strike to Courtland Sutton in the back corner of the end zone. Then, after Las Vegas had climbed back within three at 19-16, he marched Denver on a seven-play, 70-yard drive and found Sutton again, this time from 2 yards out to push the game out of the Raiders’ reach. Nix guided Denver to points on seven of his 11 drives and finished 25 of 42 for 273 yards, giving the Broncos their first season sweep of the Raiders since 2014.

He’ll get a great opportunity to showcase his Rookie of the Year candidacy on Monday Night Football (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN) when Denver hosts Cleveland (3-8).
