Complain all you want about college football realignment, the transfer system, and unregulated name, image and likeness promises. Oh, and in case you hadn’t noticed, the Big Ten now has 18 teams, not 10.
College football is not broken. And the Big Ten now features games like Saturday’s showdown between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC). Entering Week 6 in the NFL, seven teams have just one win; fans of those clubs who choose to look to the future should tune in on Saturday. The Athletic draft expert Dane Brugler expects no fewer than 25 picks in the 2025 draft to walk onto the field at Autzen Stadium.
In fact, Brugler sees a realistic scenario in which the Buckeyes and Ducks could produce 30 picks in April’s draft. And with the help of NFL scouts, Brugler ranked all 30, from top prospect Tyleik Williams all the way through Bo Nix’s replacement, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
“Williams looked like the best draft-eligible prospect for the Buckeyes over the summer, and I’m not ready to abandon that yet,” Brugler wrote. “He missed two games due to injury but returned against Iowa last weekend and looked outstanding, especially defending the run.”
Brugler said the Buckeyes – which among countless others have already given the NFL C.J. Stroud, Terry McLaurin, J.K. Dobbins, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison, Justin Fields, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson and Jameson Williams — could match or break Georgia’s 2022 single-draft record of 15 selections. As of now, Brugler sees Ohio State tying that mark.
And after the Buckeyes play the Ducks, stay up late and shift over to ESPN, where No. 18 Kansas State travels to Colorado and squares off with Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders.
