The Jayden Daniels legend is growing and the Washington quarterback has only played eight NFL games. The rookie shrugged off a rib injury and lofted a Hail Mary pass from his own 35-yard line, off the gloves of Tyrique Stevenson and into the lonely arms of Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown. The Daniels Miracle Victory gave Washington an 18-15 victory over the Bears.

In the chaotic seconds after the touchdown, Tony Romo on the CBS broadcast said that there was a “method to the madness.” That method came from the mind of offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. Four years ago as Arizona’s head coach, Kingsbury also called the Hail Murray in which Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray connected with DeAndre Hopkins on a similar play. That day, Nov. 20, 2020, the Cardinals beat Buffalo on the game-ending touchdown, 32-30.

Daniels’ rib injury, which sidelined him much of last week’s win, had him questionable all the way up to kickoff on Sunday. Daniels didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday and saw limited snaps at Friday’s practice.

The Commanders are off to their best franchise start since 2008, when Washington also opened 6-2. With a win next week against the Giants at MetLife Stadium, they’ll own the best franchise start since the club also opened 7-2 in 1996.
