In the aftermath of the Daniels Miracle Victory, some analysts wondered why the Bears left wide receiver Noah Brown all alone in the end zone, for what Jim Nantz called the easiest Hail Mary catch you’ll ever see.

Well, Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson wasn’t covering anyone. Video has surfaced showing Stevenson engaging in a verbal exchange with someone, possibly fans, while Jayden Daniels was rolling to his left and about to launch the game-winning throw. Then, Stevenson used his closing speed to somehow tip the rainbow pass, which landed calmly in the hands of Brown 4 yards deep in the end zone.

This isn’t the first time Stevenson has lost focus. Earlier in the game, at the end of the third quarter, he drew a 15-yard unnecessary roughness flag. And earlier this season, in a Week 2 loss at Houston, Stevenson was caught poking Texans wide receiver Nico Collins in the eye.

Stevenson had nine tackles against the Commanders and also broke up a pass in the end zone intended for tight end Zach Ertz.

The loss, their first since Sept. 22, dropped the Bears to 4-3 and snapped Chicago’s three-game winning streak. The Bears are back at Soldier Field to host Arizona, which won at Miami, next week.
